My First Car

Well this love story of two stars crossed lovers started March 2016 and ended mid-August 2016 after a disastrous event. Having a love for Volkswagen’s and performance cars it was a no brainer for me to get the GLI. I was able to score a platinum grey 20th anniversary GLI but the only downside was that it was in an auto-tragic configuration (automatic transmission).  Getting it in the automatic transmission was the biggest downside of the whole car, after a while it did get boring that why I suggest if you are to buy a GLI get the 6 speed manual. IT’S A MUST HAVE! I bought the car with around 145000 km and had zero issues except that I was getting a weird tan from an engine light that was illuminated from the dash. If you know Volkswagens you know that it comes on from factory (well actually not but I like to tell myself this to make myself feel better about the check engine light fault). It was on for the secondary air pump but it did not affect the cars performance any bit.

My first drive, oh I remember it like it was yesterday, the way the turbo makes eargasmic sounds making you just want to push the car to the limits. I remember winding out first and second gear and all I could hear was the turbo and getting hugged by the Recaro seats I knew it was going to be fun to throw the car into corners. With great visibility all around and having tons of power this car was just amazing and have had no regrets owning the car. To the blind eye it seemed just like a boring old Jetta but to the real enthusiast who knew the car knew that it was a special VW, not for the average driver but for a person who seeks thrill through driving their car.

I drove this car as much as I could, I took it where ever I could and did as many stupid things I could as a teenager with the car (don’t tell my mom). The car always could take whatever I threw it at and keep going wanting to please such as hauling 5 people and still being able to get up to speed quickly. This love story came to an end quickly because of a hail storm July.29, 2016 leading to broken lights, more dents than I could ever count. Not to mention during the storm getting caught under a pool of water and having it to rip my exhaust off. Driving the car for the last two weeks were some of the most memorable times, why you ask well let me tell you. It ended up taking my exhaust off right before the catalytic converter which made my car really loud and I did not actually mind it because it emphasized the turbo even more but the backfires that you could hear from a km away made it the most fun for me.  Although my neighbours most likely hated me during those two weeks I did not spare driving the car at all until the insurance company came and picked it up because of the hail damage.  But that wasn’t the end of the cars life a month ago or so ago I was browsing on Facebook and on a Facebook page I found it for sale, the person who bought it after me from the auction ended up crashing it and selling it for parts. Being as desperate as I was I tried to buy the car and fix it but it was too late because the person had already found a buyer for it.  R.I.P GLI

Porsche Cayenne Turbo S Vs BMW X5M

You are in the market for a new SUV, but want to satisfy your speed demon inside of you. There are most likely two SUV’s that you are looking at the Porsche Cayenne Turbo S and the BMW X5M. These two are the quickest luxury sport SUV’s on the market right now. The Cayenne doing 0-60MPH in 3.8 seconds and while the X5M takes 4 seconds flat you will still feel the thrill through your veins no matter what you’re in. While you won’t be using this as a full time trailer hauler you will find many other uses for these SUV’s. But what is the best for you?

The BMW X5M, an overall tank will be able to act like a normal vehicle in traffic but be able to be a deadly virus on the HI ways when you get the chance of course. The X5M, just being able to keep going and never looking back at what you smoked in your rear view mirror really shows what it can do. In the BMW you get a twin turbo 4.4 liter engine which packs a punch of 567hp and 553 TQ.  While this vehicle starts at about $99000 it is a great buy for what you are receiving. Being able to haul your family around safely and quickly what else could you want? This vehicle comes equipped with all of the features you could ever want and would take a life time to understand how it was made. BMW is known for their quality in products, written by one of our test drivers, he states “This feeling was something that you feel in a jet, I had never felt this before in any car. BMW did a great job on this suv.” Now it’s time of the article where we tell you the boring stuff like mpg (should really be smiles per gallon not miles per gallon that matter). The BMW gets 14 cities and 19 highway, which isn’t bad but if you are in the market for this kind of SUV, do you really care what mpg it gets?

Well now, the Cayenne Turbo S weighing in around a small aircraft, it starts at $160,000 but what makes it $60000 better? Well not a lot if any. Although it might a little bit faster and have a bit more power is it really worth that much to you? The twin turbo 4.8 makes 570hp and 590tq which is an improvement over the BMW.  While this SUV has enough power to embarrass cars that cost upwards of $230,000 it is still what makes it a good choice. The Cayenne has a tendency to cost more when you start to option it, while the BMW comes optioned from factory the Porsche can be modified to the way you want. But costs a pretty penny an exhaust will cost you upwards of $4000 and a surround system will cost almost $5000. All of these things make the Porsche owners think that they have the superior SUV because of the customization but in reality is not the case.

Now the question is what I recommend for you. Well in all honesty it comes down to if you like the BMW more or the Porsche. There numbers are almost identical for everything but the only difference is the price tag. Being able to get the same luxury and power for less than $60000 it would be a no brainer for some people. And for this reason I suggest that you go with the BMW, being able to hang out with other BMW owners is the life of an enthusiast when it comes to BMW.
